+Do I need an appointment?

Yes, it is strongly recommended and at times required due to the demand for fitting rooms. As we are one of Canada’s largest bridal retailers and host to some exclusive collections, our experienced consultants are proud to assist you in finding “the one”.

+Is there anything I should bring to my appointment?

Feel free to bring in pictures from magazines to better illustrate to your consultant the features that appeal to you. Please wear appropriate undergarments and if you have a strapless bra, you may find it beneficial to wear it that day.

+How long does it take to order a gown?

Wedding gowns can take 4-5 months. Bridesmaids and mothers’ dresses can take 3-4 months. Accessory items; such as headpieces, veils, and shoes, can take 1-2 months.

+How much is the deposit to place my order?

We require a deposit of 50%. This payment may be made by cash, cheque, debit, visa or mastercard. At the time of purchase you will be asked to sign a contract which will detail the terms of purchase.

+What happens when my gown arrives?

You will be contacted by telephone to be notified of your gowns arrival. If after a second attempt we are unable to reach you, we will store your gown until you contact us or until the wedding date you have given. We recommend to all of our brides to come in and finalize accessories at this time as a 1-2 month ordering time applies in most cases.

+When should I start my alterations?

We recommend starting your alterations a minimum of 2 months before your wedding. Once you have your shoes and undergarments you are welcome to start earlier.

+How many fittings will I have?

We book 2 appointments for each gown altered. At the first appointment, the seamstress will pin your gown and provide you with the cost of the alterations. At the second appointment, the alterations will be completed as well as the pressing of the gown. If at the second appointment your gown does not require any further adjustments please be prepared to take your gown home. These appointments are booked with the seamstress who can assist you with the fit of the gown. If you would like to look at accessories, please book a separate appointment with a consultant on our bridal floor.

+Do I have to have my dress altered at Elmwood Bridal?

No, you are not required to have your gown altered at Elmwood Bridal. We do recommend using a qualified, experienced seamstress. If you choose to have us alter your gown, please be aware that alterations are at an additional charge.

+Can I bring my family and friends to my fitting?

You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member. We ask that you limit your party to no more than 2 guests as you may find it distracting to have a large group with you when you are trying to concentrate on the fit of your gown.
